Report: Two Togolese nationals have been arrested by officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service in Osogbo the Osun State Command while attempting to obtain Nigerian passports.
The Togolese, namely: Ametchonwoun Alexandre Adodo and Awoudya Yao Francis, were arrested on the premises of the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) when they appeared for photographic capturing.
The suspects, allegedly entered Nigeria without passports and wanted to travel to Kenya to secure jobs with Nigerian passports.
It was also gathered that Ametchonwoun and Awoudya applied for Nigerian passport as Alexandre Adebayo and Francis Adebayo, respectively. The suspects said they paid N65,000 to one Saheed Ajibola, who was assisting them to obtain the passports.
The Controller, NIS Osun State Command, Mr. Adebowale Idowu, said the suspects used fake local government identification documents from Badagry in Lagos State.
Mr. Idowu further stated that Ajibola, who was assisting the suspects to get the passports and had forged for them local government identification documents for them, has also being arrested.
While answering questions from reporters, the Togolese suspects said they came to Nigeria without any documents. They also inform reporters that they were introduced to Ajibola, who promised to procure the passports to enable them travel to Kenya.
Ajibola, however, said he did not know that the suspects were not Nigerians, he said that he obtained local government identification documents for the two men in order to assist them.
The Osun State Nigeria Immigration Service boss stated that the suspects would be arraigned in court as soon as investigation is concluded.
