Chicken Feet
Collagen is beneficial for maintaining a healthy skin and it also forms elastic skin because it supports a faster transformation of dead skin into a new one. Collagen also assists the body in absorbing calcium and proteins which makes the body healthier. It has the ability to elevate the production of red blood cells due to its ability in making the structure of blood vessels stronger. Collagen also aids the body in losing weight by raising the body's metabolism of fat.

Additionally, it can also make the structure of the bone a lot stronger, as well as to prevent diseases of bone fragility. One of the health benefits of eating chicken feet is to maintain the health of the joints and lower the risk of having brittle bones. Joint issues and brittle bones commonly happen in the older people. It happens because the body doesn't have enough ability to absorb calcium properly.

Therefore, consuming chicken feet while you are young will make a great difference sooner. Chicken feet are composed of skin, tendons and bone. It is packed with protein, calcium, cartilage and even collagen that can be effortlessly absorbed by the body.

Nutrition is extremely important in order to make the structure of the bone stronger, as well as to prevent bone loss in elderly.

Brunei Airlines Launch Huge Flight Take-Off Runway On Top Water

Developmental advancement in all ramifications have left the African continents behind, as Brunei launches a big airplane that takes off and land on water as runway, at the same time it uses the little stretch of landed road to move into the water before take-off.
Airplane
While some bad leaders of the African countries especially that of Nigeria have pushed the standard state of living below anything to be proud of, the huge numbers of unemployed youths has been left with nothing but trying to battle the leaders to providing normal social amenities like: electricity, minimum wage increment, imported items and local rice saga, bad roads, bad educational system, bad and low standard and dilapidated hospital, poor water supply system and so many more.

Majority of the Nigerian politicians who enriched themselves and their families, can't provide any of the above social amenities up to standard like it is in other countries.

BREAKING NEWS - Lawyers Across Nigeria To Boycott The Courts For Two Days Over Onnoghen

Lawyers across the nation are automatic member of the NBA, the resolution means all lawyers anywhere in the country will be absent in court for two days.

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has resolved that all its members should boycott the courts nationwide for two days (Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 January 2019) to protest the "constitutional infractions in the suspension of Walter Onnoghen as Chief Justice of Nigeria."

The body reached the decision on Monday at an emergency meeting of its National Executive Committee (NEC) held at the NBA Auditorium, NBA House, Plot 1101 Muhammadu Buhari Way, Cadastral Zone A00 Central Area, Abuja.

Attendance at the NEC meeting was limited only to Statutory NEC members, who are national officers, past presidents, past general secretaries, branch chairmen, branch secretaries, branch NEC representatives and chairmen and secretaries of sections.

As all Nigerian lawyers are automatic members of the NBA, the resolution means all lawyers anywhere in the country will be absent in court for two days.

President Muhammadu Buhari suspend Onnoghen as the CJN on Friday and swore in Tanko Mohammed in acting capacity, leading to widespread condemnation both from home and abroad.

Dalo Bamshak Stated Not All Lawyers Schooled In Law, Some Just Patronizing Mami Market

The Judiciary as the only arm of government comprising of Professionals, without doubt, I say most lawyers fails to understand what the term "Professionalism" means. It appears to most as getting ones way by cheating and manipulating.

"Politics and Prostitution have to be the only jobs where inexperience is considered a virtue."

It is rather disheartening to see the volatile mixture of ignorance, compromise and vulnerability in the judicial system and amongst the top justice administrators in Nigeria. It is a shame on any lawyer to support against a system set up to deliver monologue on professional legal matters, in favor of a government promptly failing in its track to discharging its duties.

As the only arm of government comprising of Professionals, without a single doubt, I say most lawyers fails to understand what the term "Professionalism" means. It appears to most as getting ones way by cheating and manipulating. While it appears to some as serving the dictates of greed and advantage rather than those of goodness and the desire to see justice prevail in this country.

With the most recent event hovering in and around the country on the controversial suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria by President Muhammadu Buhari who according to him acted on the orders of the Code of Conduct Tribunal of Nigeria, has raised a lot of skepticism amongst top political, religious and traditional rulers, the elite and the civil society as a whole as to whether or not the President has the constitutional right to suspend or sack the CJN based on a court order.

Having said that, the civil society has been left lost and vulnerable as to the true interpretation of the constitution, with various Lawyers in and around the country having diverse and contrary views as to the legality or otherwise of the Presidents actions to suspend the CJN.

For the sake of ethics and demand of professionalism, I shall without bias or sentiments buttress for public enlightenment about the issue at hand for a better understanding.

I am out-rightly taking a stand based on my understanding of the Grundnorm of Nigeria's 1999 constitution as amended, that by the provision of Section 292(I)(II), the President has no constitutional right to suspend or remove the CJN.

The doctrines of the "RULE OF LAW" Section I(I), Chapter I, Part I CFRB which made it clear that No body is above the Law. (I) Constitution is Supreme and its provisions shall have binding force on "ALL AUTHORITIES and PERSONS" throughout the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I(I) stretches over "ALL PROVISIONAL LAID DOWN LAWS IN THE CONSTITUTION" so covered includes further constitutional principles of division and separation of Powers between the 3 arms of government, Executive, Legislative and Judiciary Ss 4-7, FRN coined by Montesquieu as a way to eliminate and reduce the arbitrary powers of unchecked rulers further support my stand.

It is however, fair to say the suspension of Chief Justice Onnoghen, the CJN by President Muhammadu Buhari is a violation and breaches of S. 292(1,2), Chapter 7, Part 4 of the CFRN (amended). The Chief Justice of Nigeria, PCA, CJFHC, CJHCFCT, GKSCAFCT, PCCAFCT, by the President acting on address supported by 2/3rd majority of the Senate.

In clear terms, a CJN can only be removed from office after at least two-third majority of the upper chamber supports such move. In this case, no such issue was been debated upon by the Senate. So therefore, it is an aberration and violation of the constitution for Buhari to jump jurisdiction and suspend the CJN.

"It is however a shame on the path of Lawyers most notably SANs who supported this action, quoting one section or the other from enacted laws in support of the President's action because the constitution remain supreme to such enacted laws as conferred on it by S.I(I) of the constitution." Indeed, not all lawyers who passed through the law school were really schooled in law. Some were there to make up numbers while some were there to patronize the mami market.

Let me take you back to the issue of Dr. Bukola Saraki Vs Justive Raliat Elelu-Rabeeb (2009).

Where the then Governor of Kwara state Dr. Bukola Saraki asked the state house of Assembly in an approved letter to sack the Chief judge of the state, alleging that the chief judge engaged in an act that contravened the constitution. Following her removal from office, Raliat dragged the Government of Kwara state to the Federal High Court challenging the powers of the Kwara Government to initiate disciplinary action against her. The federal High Court after due judicial procedure granted judgement in favor of the Chief judge, ruling that the government lacks the jurisdiction to sack her from office without the approval of the Nigerian Judicial Council but the government of Kwara in dissatisfaction to the judgement of the court, appealed to the Court of Appeal in Illorin.

The COA in its judgement ruled that the state Chief Executive could not remove a judicial officer without an inputs from the NJC, Nullifying and reinstating Judge Raliat Elelu back to her position.

This is no different from the case of Buhari and CJN. A pending trial should be allowed to go through the due legal procedure before a disciplinary action is taken. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article II states, everyone charged with a penal offence has the right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty according to the law in a public trial at which he has had all the guarantee necessary defense.

I hereby call on the President Muhammadu Buhari to reverse this tyrannical action against the judicial and let the law take its course.

Obi Ezekwesili
Obiageli Ezekwesili, candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), has withdrawn from the 2019 presidential race.

According to a statement issue by the spokesperson for the Obiageli Ezekwesili Presidential Campaign Organization, Ozioma Ubabukoh, the former minister was withdrawing to help build a coalition to defeat the ruling APC and the main opposition party PDP in the coming general election.

Ezekwesili was quoted as saying that her decision to withdraw from the race followed extensive discussions with Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora. She said her action was also prompted by an examination of the country's electoral environment sequel to the 2019 presidential debate of Saturday, January 19th 2019.

"This decision followed extensive consultations with leaders from various works of life across the country over the past few days. I deem it necessary for me to focus on helping to build a veritable coalition to ensure a viable alternative to the #APCPDP in the forthcoming elections," she said.

"It is my ardent belief that this broad coalition for viable alternative has now become more than ever before, an urgent mission for and on behalf of Nigerian citizens. I have therefore chosen to lead the way in demonstrating the much needed patriotic sacrifice for our national revival and redirection.

"I wish to state that over the past three months, I have been in private, but extended talks with other candidates to birth a coalition that would allow Nigerians to exercise their choice without feeling helplessly encumbered by the evil twins of #APCPDP.

"While the deliberations continued, I never hesitated for a moment in my willingness and determination to sacrifice my candidacy in order to facilitate the emergence of the envisaged strong and viable alternative that Nigerians could identify with in our collective search for a new beginning.

"My commitment to this promising political recalibration has been consistent and in consonance with my agreement, at the request of candidates under the Presidential Aspirants Coming Together (PACT) arrangement in 2018, when I consented to supervise the internal selection process as an outside observer passionate about building an alternative force."

Ezekwesili also said: "However, despite resistance from the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria on these and other issues, I have decided that it is now necessary to show by action and example my determination on this issue by stepping down my candidacy so as to focus squarely on building coalition to a logical conclusion.

"We have no right to allow citizens give in to despair. We will #Fight4Naija together and prove to all that the mess, which the political class has now become, should not be allowed to destroy our spirits and nation. We are also determined to ensure that the message keeps resonating that our beloved country deserves better, and that we will get the best that we deserve.

"From last year, when I joined the presidential race, I made it clear to Nigerians that the country has always had a 20 year cycle of change, 1958, 1979, and 1999. As such, 2019 begins another 20 year cycle and together with all Nigerians of good will, I stand ready to play my part to ensure that we do not miss this golden opportunity to sing a new song. "There is no more time to waste. Let's get to work."

Meanwhile, Ubabukoh thanked Nigerians, including campaign donors and volunteers, who supported Obi Ezekwesili, saying: "Every money donated to the campaign and funds spent will be accounted for in the coming days."

PARENTING - Constipation In Children

Going to the toilet to poo may not be the easiest task for some kids. Our specialist consultant paediatrician Dr. Cheah Cheong Wooi who volunteer to give us some insights on constipation and what parents can do to prevent it.
Constipation is a common and uncomfortable toilet issue faced by many young children. It is described as difficult in defecation which persists for longer than two weeks and is often associated with hard stool and pain when defecating. Studies have shown that up to one third of children between the ages of 6 to 12 years experience constipation in any given year, making constipation one of the most common problems paediatricians deal with.

The common stages in life when a child might get constipation include the time when a child goes through a change in diet and when a child enters a new environment (for example, going to school for the first time). Adding to that, consultant paediatrician Dr. Cheah Cheong Wooi says, "60 to 80 percent of cases of older kids who come to see me complaining about stomach pain or discomfort, have constipation. I normally see such cases in two age groups: at about 1-2 years old and at kindergarten age (5-6 years old)."

DETECTING CONSTIPATION IS TRICKY

Among older children who no longer wear diapers (going to the toilet on their own), it can be difficult to detect the problem. Dr. Cheah explains, "I have to be very specific when asking questions during a check-up. Most times, parents assume everything is going fine because they see the kids going to the toilet every day. But on many occasions, although the child does go to the toilet, they don't evacuate completely. Children who are constipated are likely to pass out small hard lumps of separate stool (like pellets) and they don't fully evacuate because they have to strain to get it out, it can be very painful. When I see them, I ask them when they last went to poo and how much of it was released."

As for the symptoms, Dr. Cheah says that most times, kids who are constipated do not cry. They would only complain occasionally about abdominal pain. "One of the tell-tale signs is when the child is looking angsty and uneasy. Those who have had chronic constipation would have stomach discomfort."

FREQUENCY AND CONSISTENCY GO HAND IN HAND

Less than three bowel movements a week may be a sign of constipation, but there's more to it. According to Dr. Cheah, frequency and consistency of stool go hand in hand when it comes to identifying constipation. "Constipation is multifactorial. If a child has bowel movements three times a week but the texture and consistency of poo are normal, it isn't a problem. But if a child poos every day but is letting out hard pellet-like stools which are hard to pass out, I would still treat them for constipation."

Besides asking about bowel habits, Dr. Cheah refers to the commonly used Bristol stool chart. "I would ask the child to point out what his or her stool looks like. Normal stool should look like type 4 of the stool chart (a smooth sausage, soft in texture). Type 3 (sausage shape with cracks on its surface) or type 5 (soft blobs with clear-cut edges that can be passed easily) may be normal too, but it depends." If parents are unsure or concerned, they can bring their child to a paediatrician for further checks.

Parents can play a role in identifying constipation in their kids too. For this, they have got to keep track of their kid's stool. Dr. Cheah elaborates, "Parents can keep a stool diary to document the frequency and consistency of poo. For the bigger kids, parents can ask their kids to describe their poo instead."

Color doesn't matter as much as people think. "Stool can be brown, green or yellow and that's perfectly normal, color of excrement is dependent on the child's diet. However, if a child's stool is dark colored and has mucous or blood, you have to bring him or her to see a doctor.

EASING CONSTIPATION

Dr. Cheah reveals that a common misconception is that constipation is only treated by medicine to soften the stool. While those medications do help sometimes, a change in diet and nutrition is more effective in long term prevention of constipation and its recurrence. According to Dr. Cheah, we can help our kids prevent constipation by:

  • Giving them a balanced diet
  • Pre-and probiotic supplementation
  • Proper potty training

He stresses the importance of potty training and has concerns that the process is often delayed or not done properly due to parents' and caregivers' increasingly busy schedule. "Parents need to realize that children who start well tend to have better outcomes. The best time to train is when the child is ready," Dr. Cheah said.

Having the right potty is important when training, a proper potty gets the child to squat. "The ideal position which allows young children to poo comfortably is the squatting position. Train your children to squat so that they build the muscles that help them poo (at least until a certain age when they can push well). Once they are well trained, parents can promote them to the adult toilet bowl. Timing for toilet trips depends on the child, but you usually get bowel movements after food."

On the topic of diet, it's all about achieving that balance. A healthy plate normally consists of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, protein and dairy. Include pre-and probiotic supplementation as this helps build a healthy digestive system in children by promoting the growth of good bacteria. Sufficient fibre and adequate water intake are also required to form healthy stool. "By the age of one, a child needs three meals a day, given in a healthy portion according to their age. If a child is getting healthy balanced meals and are additionally given some fruits as snacks, they almost never come back again complaining of constipation," Dr. Cheah reassures.

TAKE HOME MESSAGE

  • Constipation is very common among children
  • Parents can use a stool diary to keep track of their children's poo. The diary also documents stool frequency and consistency
  • Prevention is the most effective way of managing constipation. The best ways are: helping your kids achieve a balanced diet, pre- and probiotic supplementation and proper potty training.

PARENTING - 5 Useful Tips To Raise Well-Adjusted Kids

On this topics we contacted our contributing specialist by name Katyana Azman, child Psychologist. She pen down the following as some few tips to be uphold by parents.

1) Start Them Young:- According to Katyana Azman, a child's brain at birth is made up of 100 billion interconnected neurons, which are cells that transmit information from our sensory organs (eyes, nose) to the brain.

Each neural connection represents an opportunity to learn. However, the body begins to remove unused neural connections when the child turns three. Therefore, one's capacity to learn effectively decreases with time.

The best time to start teaching our children new things and concepts, therefore, is when they are between one to five years old.

2) Lead By Example:- Young children come into this world without knowing the rules, and they learn by observing the actions of the people around them. Therefore, we need to display the kind of behavior we want our children to have.

3) Set Boundaries:- Our children need some rules to follow, as they have not yet learned how to police their own actions. Furthermore, they need a reason to commit to a certain pattern of behavior. Hence, we as parents need to set down some ground rules, a reward system for good behavior and a punishment system for those moments when our children go out of hand.

4) Communicate:- Throughout the entire process, we have to understand that our children have feelings too, and we should encourage them to express these feelings. We should also talk to our children at their level, so that they will feel comfortable expressing themselves to us.

Furthermore, by encouraging them to do this, we are helping our children develop communication skills that will be useful for the rest of their lives.

5) Make Them Earn Things, But Make It Fun As Well:- Handing our children everything may breed a sense of entitlement in them. On the other hand, if we make them put an effort into earning rewards, we can inculcate in them an ability to appreciate hard, honest work. They will also develop the ability to focus on a goal and plan to achieve this goal, skill that will certainly come in handy later in life.

However, make the process of earning rewards a fun one. Don't overtax them beyond their abilities or stress them out. Instead, offer encouragement and advice to them as a source of motivation. Praise them if they succeed and encourage them to ask for our help if they falter.

Also, don't rush in and take over the moment our child stumbles a little. Let them try to solve problems on their own first. This will help them develop skills to become independent and self reliant in the future.

HEALTH MATTERS - Is It A Migraine Or Something More Serious?

A severe headache may be a sign of subarachnoid haemorrhage, which is bleeding in the brain and a medical emergency. Here's how to tell if it's just a 'regular' headache or something more serious according to our specialist Pank Jit Sin.

We all get headaches at some point in our lives. Sometimes the pain is severe and it is termed as a migraine. Migraines are a type of headache which occur as a result of changes in the brain. The pain is often severe, only on one side of the head and is paired with sensitivity to light, sounds and smells.

Certain symptoms are also associated with migraine. These include eye pain (at the back of the eyeball), nausea, vomiting and of course, severe pain commonly described as pounding. As migraine sufferers know, the pain can be debilitating and can last for hours to days.

Now, migraines aren't life threatening or uncommon, but there's a more pernicious condition called subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) or basically bleeding in the brain caused by aneurysm (a localized swelling or ballooning of the wall of the artery) rupture. Most symptoms are identical and hard to discern even by doctors. This writer's friend recently went to the GP for severe migraine and vomiting and was given painkillers and medical leave for four days. He finally went to the emergency department on the fifth day and was subsequently diagnosed with a bleed in the brain.

HOW TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE

How then does one differentiate an aneurysm rupture from a normal migraine episode? We spoke with Professor Datin Dr. Chia Yook Chin, family medicine specialist and president of the Malaysian Society of Hypertension, about the difference between a migraine and a possible brain bleed. Dr. Chia had a few tips to share. According to her, the first thing a doctor should do is to take a detailed history of the patient and look at the sex. Migraines are rarer in men than women, of the 38 million people in the US suffering from migraine, 28 million are women.
In the young, migraine is more prevalent in boys than in girls. This pattern shifts at puberty, where the prevalence rises in girls. In fact, girls are more likely to experience their first episode of migraine in the same year their periods begin than at any other time in their lives. After puberty, migraine in women increases until age 40 or so, when it begins to decrease and can come to a complete stop upon menopause.

Secondly, migraines rarely develop suddenly. "If a patient is more than 30-35 years and comes to the clinic with severe migraine, then I have to be on the alert," said Prof. Dr. Chia. Migraines usually develop in the teenage years and appear periodically, sometimes in cyclic fashion in women due to their menstrual cycles.

Another warning sign is the description of symptoms. Most migraine sufferers know in advance when a full-blown episode is coming as there will be warning signs. They may have sudden mood changes, frequent yawning, neck stiffness and changes in vision (aura). In contrast, those experiencing a brain bleed episode often describe their onset of pain as a flash of lightning and subsequently being hit by a car or a hammer. The pain is so severe that movement is disabled.

Symptoms of an SAH, as mentioned earlier, are similar to that of migraine. However, Dr. Chia said the increase in pressure in the brain as a result of bleeding causes the neck of the sufferer to be very stiff. "They can't move their necks," she said. Brain bleeds can also increase pressure in the brain to such an extent that herniation of the brain can occur and could lead to paralysis and heart malfunction.

Those who are fortunate enough to survive an initial brain bleed episode will need to get to the hospital immediately. The doctors will try to ascertain the extent of damage and determine the best course of action. One of the procedures that can be performed is surgical clipping or endovascular coiling, where a catheter is brought close to the location of the abnormal blood vessel and a small thin platinum wire is inserted into the ballooned area. The wire coils up (hence coiling) as it enters the aneurysm and multiple coils are packed inside the dome so that no blood flows into it. With this procedure, a clot then forms in the aneurysm and prevents it from rupturing.
