BREAKING: CAF Delists Nigeria, Libya AFCON Qualifier
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has removed the second-leg match of Group D in the ongoing 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, which was set to feature the Super Eagles of Nigeria against the Mediterranean Knights of Libya.
Originally, the match was scheduled to occur in Libya at 8 PM, following the first leg held at Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Friday.
In that initial encounter, the Super Eagles secured a narrow victory, winning by a single goal in the final moments of the match.
However, the upcoming return leg has become contentious, as players and officials from the Super Eagles reported a challenging experience exceeding 14 hours at the airport in Libya, which ultimately forced their return to Nigeria.
In response to the situation, CAF has initiated an investigation after the Libya Football Federation accused Nigeria of sabotage and threatened legal action.
Additionally, the African football governing body provided an update on the matches scheduled for Tuesday, notably omitting the Libya versus Nigeria fixture from its announcements on social media.
