EDO POLL: As it Goes Before the Tribunal, PDP Claims, "We'll Reclaim Our Stolen Mandate."

Following the results of the governorship election held on September 21, 2024, in Edo State, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has submitted a petition to the state election tribunal. In a press conference on Monday, Dr. Anthony Aziegbemi, the Chairman of the PDP in Edo State, claimed that the party's mandate had been unlawfully taken, expressing optimism about its recovery. He further accused the All Progressive Congress (APC) of attempting to obstruct a court order that permits the PDP to examine election materials at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Aduwawa. He stated: “We have initiated the process to reclaim the people's mandate, and a petition has been lodged with the Edo State Election Tribunal. Despite various challenges, we have successfully filed the petition, as the APC's intention was to prevent us from doing so. The mandate entrusted to the PDP will be restored. “We have identified the core issues, and we are confident that the election tribunal will recognize our mandate based on the substantial evidence presented. “While our party was diligently compiling evidence for the petition, the APC and its chairman, Jarret Tenebe, were engaged in spreading falsehoods. He falsely claimed that the PDP was obstructing activities at the INEC office, neglecting to acknowledge that the process serves the interests of the PDP. Why would the PDP disrupt a procedure that benefits it? “If the APC genuinely won the governorship election on September 21st in Edo State, why are they creating chaos at the INEC office? Their lies lack credibility. “They are the ones hindering the process because it does not favor them. If you are victorious, why would you go to such lengths to prevent others from reviewing the process? Are you trying to conceal how you achieved your victory?”
