Heartbreaking as Stranded Nigerian Super Eagles Players Sleeps On Libyan Airport Seats.
William Ekong, the captain of the Super Eagles, has shared images depicting the players resting at the airport. He conveyed his disappointment regarding the inadequate treatment the team has received from the Libyan authorities.
He noted that the squad is stranded in a deserted airport, lacking access to food, water, or communication services. He stated, “After our plane was diverted during descent, we have spent over 12 hours in an abandoned airport in Libya. The Libyan government revoked our previously approved landing in Benghazi without explanation. The airport gates have been locked, leaving us without phone service, food, or beverages. This seems to be a tactic to play mind games.
“While I have encountered difficulties in previous away matches in Africa, this situation is utterly unacceptable.”
