Nigeria May Learn From Both Hezbollah and Boko Haram Following Israeli Attacks.

As reports of Israeli assaults on Hezbollah emerge, it is reasonable for some Nigerians to draw comparisons to our own challenging history with Boko Haram. The pattern of leadership changes that often ensue from such attacks, typically leading to the emergence of more radical and violent successors, is a well-known phenomenon. The Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria, initiated by its founder Mohammed Yusuf, serves as a significant illustration of how the extrajudicial execution of a leader can lead to unintended consequences and an increase in violence. The deaths of Yusuf and Buji Foi intensified the group's activities, reinforcing their determination and radicalizing their beliefs. This martyrdom enabled the group to reframe itself as a vengeful entity against the Nigerian government, underscoring the repercussions of extrajudicial killings.
