SAD NEWS: Over 20 Deaths Have Been Confirmed From a Boat Accident in the Lagos Lagoon.

At least 20 individuals have been confirmed deceased following the capsizing of two passenger boats in Lagos on Monday evening. Reports indicate that each boat was carrying 16 passengers when they overturned after colliding around 7 PM at Imore lagoon. The intended destination of the boats remains unknown. The tragedy was corroborated by Police spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who reported that 11 passengers were successfully rescued. Authorities noted that the boats were unregistered, and a report regarding the incident has been filed at the Ilashe Police Division. The police spokesperson stated that all 32 passengers and their belongings were lost when the boats capsized, emphasizing that the rescue of the 11 individuals was made possible through the efforts of the police, local divers, and other emergency responders. Those rescued sustained injuries and were promptly transported to the Naval Town Hospital in Ojo for medical care, with ongoing search and rescue operations for the remaining victims. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has yet to provide an official statement regarding the incident.
