The Abia LG Elections Committee is Formed by Labour Party.

The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Labour Party has established a committee led by the National Vice Chairman for the South East, Hon Ceekay Igara, to oversee the organization of the Party's Primary elections for candidates vying in the upcoming local government elections in Abia State. This initiative is in accordance with Article 13.3.B xviii of the amended Labour Party constitution. The appointment letter, which has been shared with Trustbase news, designates Hon Ceekay Igara as the Chairman, alongside six other members selected from the Abia State Executive Council of the Party. The letter has been officially signed by the National Chairman, Bar Julius Abure, and the National Secretary, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim. The members of the committee are as follows: Hon Ceekay Igara, Chairman. Hon Prince G.O Ndubueze, Member. Rev Andrew Ohaga, Member. Hon Mrs Oby Jerry, Member. Hon John Igbojionu, Member. Hon Okey Ijeoma, Member. Hon Udo Ihediwa, Member. The committee is tasked with the following responsibilities: To notify the Commission regarding the conduct of the primaries. To advertise and distribute forms to party members or eligible candidates intending to participate in the party primary. To coordinate with the Commission on all matters related to the local government elections in Abia State. To undertake any additional actions necessary to ensure the Party's effective participation in the forthcoming local government elections in Abia State. The committee has been advised to adhere closely to the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 and the electoral laws of Abia State.
