BREAKING: The Labour Party Forms a New State Caretaker Committee and Dissolves the Abia SWC.
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Labour Party has officially disbanded the Abia State Working Committee and has appointed a new Caretaker/State Working Committee for the Party in Abia State.
This information was conveyed in a letter issued to Trustbase news by the Labour Party in Abuja on Monday, 14 October.
The letter, which was directed to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja, was signed by the National Chairman, Bar Julius Abure, and the National Secretary, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim.
The letter states:
“In accordance with the authority granted by the Labour Party constitution, Article 13.3.B.vi, to receive regular reports and to dissolve and reconstitute the State Executive Council/State Working Committee as necessary until the next State Congress.
“The National Working Committee hereby disbands the current committee and appoints a Caretaker Committee to oversee the Party's operations in the State.
“The following individuals are appointed to manage the affairs of the State for a duration of three months, effective immediately.”
