Why I Designated my Daughter to Oversee The First Lady's Office, Governor Umo Eno

Following the passing of his wife, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has appointed his daughter, Helen Eno-Obareki, to serve as the coordinator of the First Lady's office in the state.
The governor announced this decision during a condolence visit from the wife of the president, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, along with other esteemed guests in Uyo, the state capital, on Friday, October 4. Governor Eno stated that this appointment aims to ensure the continuity of the office and the initiatives launched by his late wife, Mrs. Patience Eno. He expressed his belief in his daughter's capability to uphold the principles and vision of her late mother, reiterating his dedication to maintaining the projects initiated through the First Lady's office. “To preserve the Office of the First Lady and advance my late wife’s endeavors, I present our daughter, Helen, to assume the responsibilities of the office. She will collaborate closely with the Deputy Governor and the Commissioner for Women’s Affairs and Social Welfare,” he remarked. In his address, Governor Umo Eno reflected on the profound connection he shared with his late wife. “I married her at the age of 19, while I was 22. I referred to her as Oluwa-Kemi because she was indeed a divine gift, a source of comfort and support,” he shared. “We faced numerous challenges together, celebrating both triumphs and setbacks. Her departure is an irreplaceable loss for me. She epitomized the biblical virtuous woman, my staunchest supporter, and my most honest critic. Her absence will resonate throughout my life.” In response to speculation regarding his potential remarriage, Governor Eno addressed the matter humorously during a separate condolence visit from Senate President Godswill Akpabio. “I am not contemplating remarrying in the near future,” he stated, jesting that he lacks the financial means to pay another bride price. He underscored that the absence created by his deceased wife is irreplaceable. "Her legacy will endure in our memories. She launched numerous initiatives, which is why I have introduced our daughter, Helen, to the First Lady. She will take on the responsibility of overseeing the efforts, guaranteeing that the Office of the First Lady maintains the programs initiated by my wife."
