In Response to Aiyedatiwa and the APC's Victory in Ondo, Former President Buhari Speaks

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has conveyed his satisfaction regarding the All Progressives Congress (APC) triumph in the Ondo State governorship election, which resulted in the re-election of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa with a significant majority. In a statement released on Sunday by his spokesperson, Mallam Garba Shehu, Buhari extended his congratulations to Aiyedatiwa and commended the electorate for their substantial support. “The voters have decisively demonstrated their trust in both the party and the governor. This choice, as indicated by the ballots, warrants respect from all involved parties,” Buhari remarked. The former president highlighted that the election results reflect the strength of Nigeria’s democracy, despite the nation’s vast and varied population. Nevertheless, Buhari urged the Governor-elect to prioritize tackling critical issues such as economic development, elevated unemployment rates, inflation, and the execution of welfare initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life for citizens. Buhari also praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and law enforcement agencies for their efforts in refining the electoral process and resolving challenges encountered in prior elections, which contributed to a more efficient experience this time around. Wishing Governor Aiyedatiwa a prosperous tenure, Buhari encouraged him to build upon his previous achievements and to continue his dedicated service to the people of Ondo State.
