Reno Omokri is Being Criticized for his Unjustified Remarks and Vituperations on Pastor Becky Enenche.
The Nigeria Youths Frontiers and Peace Advocates (NYFPA) has criticized social media activist Reno Omokri for his recent comments regarding Nigerian clerics, specifically targeting Pastor Becky Enenche of Dunamis International Gospel Centre. Omokri's characterization of Pastor Enenche as a “Yahoo girl on the altar” has incited significant backlash from the Christian community.
This remark followed Pastor Enenche's comments on the importance of tithing. The NYFPA condemned Omokri’s statements as “inflammatory, unfounded, and highly irresponsible,” asserting that such remarks are unbecoming of an individual who positions himself as a political activist and public commentator.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Samuel Geofrey, the organization stated, “Reno Omokri’s comments are an affront to millions of Nigerians who hold their faith and spiritual leaders in high regard. His language demonstrates a serious lack of respect for Christianity and undermines the principles of dialogue and mutual understanding essential in a civilized society.”
The NYFPA also took issue with Omokri’s controversial public history, highlighting alleged inconsistencies in his professional and personal life, as well as his political affiliations. The organization accused him of employing divisive rhetoric to remain relevant, often at the cost of unity and constructive dialogue.
The NYFPA reiterated its dedication to fostering truth, justice, and peace, calling on Nigerians to reject divisive narratives and work towards a society founded on mutual respect and understanding. “Omokri’s remarks not only attack Pastor Becky Enenche but also insult the millions of Nigerians who deeply value their faith and spiritual leaders. His choice of words reveals a significant disrespect for Christianity and the foundational principles of dialogue and mutual respect that are vital to a civilized society.”
It is regrettable that Omokri, who presents himself as a guide in moral and political matters, has a background characterized by inconsistency, self-interest, and a tendency to provoke unwarranted controversies, the statement indicated.
