The PDP Rejects the Deal to Give Atiku and Others the Ticket in 2027.

AIG Fayoade has confirmed the completion of the investigation, indicating that Akpoguma will face arraignment in court. This case underscores the increasingly advanced tactics employed by internet fraudsters and the escalating issue of financial crime in Nigeria. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has refuted allegations regarding an agreement to allocate its presidential ticket to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar or any other prominent members in anticipation of the 2027 general elections. Timothy Osadolor, the party’s Deputy National Youth Leader, provided clarification on this matter during an interview with Punch on Friday. He asserted that the party is dedicated to a transparent and democratic approach in selecting its presidential candidate, noting that decisions regarding candidacy will adhere to established protocols. “Nobody has informed the party of their intention to run on the PDP platform, thus no position has been taken. There is no agreement designating a specific individual for the ticket. Currently, we have not announced the sale of forms, nor have we called for primaries. Therefore, we are unaware of who may or may not be running,” Osadolor stated. His remarks followed closely after the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, dismissed Atiku’s prospects of obtaining the PDP’s presidential ticket again in 2027. Osadolor acknowledged that Wike’s perspective could be considered valid when reflecting on past events. However, he also maintained that Atiku should not be entirely excluded from the race for the ticket, referencing Donald Trump’s unexpected victory as an example. He remarked, “If Trump could defeat Kamala Harris, then anything is conceivable. While Wike’s observations hold merit, it is essential to recognize that it is ultimately about the will of the people.” It is possible that there were aspects of branding or the manner in which he (Atiku) presented himself previously that did not connect effectively with the public. Nevertheless, there remains a prevailing belief among the populace that the elections were fraudulent and that he was the true victor. Regardless, I do not foresee him successfully campaigning and winning without seeking to gain the support of all, including that of Nyesom Wike.
