Why all Bank Accounts Owned by the State of Edo Were Frozen by Governor Okpebholo

Governor Monday Okpebholo has mandated the immediate suspension of all accounts owned by Edo State in commercial banks. This directive was communicated through a statement released by Fred Itua, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, on Thursday. "Heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies are required to adhere to this directive and ensure complete compliance without any further delays. "Following the necessary investigations and reconciliations, the Governor will take appropriate action and determine the next steps. For the time being, this directive remains in effect," the statement partially noted. In addition, the Governor has restored the previous name of the Ministry of Roads and Bridges to the Ministry of Works. He remarked that the latter was poorly conceived during the tenure of Godwin Obaseki, who he claimed failed to construct any bridges or quality roads. "It is quite ironic to designate a government body as the Ministry of Roads and Bridges when not a single bridge was constructed by that administration, not even a pedestrian bridge. "In the upcoming days, we will review additional actions taken by the former administration, and further decisions will be made in the best interest of the state," he stated.
